First Off...

 The purpose of this blog is to keep me writing, even when I'm not working on a specific project. Too many aspiring academics fall into the trap of only creating new material when pressed with an immanent deadline. I hope to escape said trap. This blog is a net for my wandering ideas. Each post will likely have a different topic and style, but all will likely deal in some way with what I am currently reading. Hopefully these posts will lead to larger projects, but that is not a requirement. First and foremost, this virtual space must provide a place for me to play--to give my thoughts permission to exist outside of the confines of my own mind. A colleague of mine recently described the writing process as something like an adventure on paper. I believe I once felt similarly, but somewhere along the way fear took over. With this process I hope to access again that sense of adventure in creation. After all, I'm finally living my dream.
